In the summer of 1995, as the internet was just beginning to take shape, Kaoru Hayashi and Joichi Ito founded Digital Garage with a forward-looking mission: to create 'context' for the internet age. They started by building some of Japan's first websites, laying the groundwork for what would become a multi-faceted technology company. Digital Garage's business is built on three core pillars: financial technology, marketing technology, and an investment incubation segment. The company operates one of Japan's largest payment platforms at its core, which provides a foundation for its other ventures. Through its incubation arm, DG Ventures, the company actively invests in promising startups in Japan and globally, focusing on areas like FinTech and marketing. This strategy of integrating payments, marketing, and startup investment allows the company to identify and support new technologies while creating synergies across its business lines. A key moment in the company's journey was its listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which solidified its position in the Japanese tech industry. In 2022, Digital Garage moved from the First Section to the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, marking another significant milestone.
