Founded in 2000 by Thomas Dieringer, POOL4TOOL AG established itself as a specialized provider of cloud-based software for direct procurement processes. The Vienna-based company developed an all-in-one supply collaboration platform designed to integrate every stage of the supply chain, from product development and strategic sourcing to supplier relationship management (SRM), indirect procurement, and quality control.
The company's core offering was a comprehensive, workflow-based solution that catered primarily to industries with complex manufacturing needs, such as automotive, engineering, serial production, and medical technology. POOL4TOOL's software provided functionalities for eSourcing, eAuctions, supplier management, contract management, and supply chain management (SCM), positioning it as a key tool for optimizing direct material procurement. A significant feature was its robust integration capability with SAP systems, which was a strong selling point for companies in North America. The business model was based on providing these SaaS solutions to a global client base, which grew to over 300 organizations.
A major milestone for the company occurred on June 1, 2017, when it was acquired by and merged with the U.S.-based company JAGGAER, a specialist in indirect and source-to-pay spend solutions. This strategic merger created one of the largest e-procurement providers on the global market, uniquely offering end-to-end solutions for both direct and indirect spending. At the time of the acquisition, POOL4TOOL employed 150 people and brought a substantial client portfolio and a vast supplier network to the newly formed entity. Following the merger, founder Thomas Dieringer continued to lead the former POOL4TOOL operations from the Vienna office, and the product was integrated into JAGGAER's suite, eventually being marketed under the name "JAGGAER direct".
