Jaggaer, formerly known as SciQuest, is a provider of cloud-based business automation technology for spend management. The company was founded in 1995 by Scott Andrews, Bobby Fiegler, Keith Gunter, and Peyton Anderson. The founders, with backgrounds as life science and research suppliers, were inspired to create a virtual marketplace to simplify the tedious process of distributing laboratory supplies. Initially targeting the lab supplies market, they envisioned a single platform to aggregate the procurement process, making it more efficient for customers.
The company's journey includes several transformations, starting as a B2B eCommerce exchange and going public with an IPO in 1999. It was taken private in 2004, shifting focus to eProcurement, inventory management, and accounts payable automation, and then went public again in 2010. In 2016, the private equity firm Accel-KKR acquired the company for approximately $509 million, taking it private once more. The rebranding to Jaggaer occurred in 2017 to reflect an expanded market focus that now includes manufacturing, retail, consumer packaged goods, and public sectors, alongside its original base in life sciences and higher education. Subsequent ownership changes include a majority stake acquisition by Cinven in 2019 and a later acquisition by Vista Equity Partners in 2024.
Jaggaer operates on a SaaS-based business model, providing a comprehensive source-to-settle solution. Its core offering is the JAGGAER ONE platform, which integrates a suite of products designed to manage the entire procurement process. This includes modules for spend analytics, category management, supplier management, sourcing, contracts, eProcurement, invoicing, inventory management, and supply chain collaboration. The platform serves large and medium-sized enterprises across various sectors, helping them to manage and automate complex processes, reduce costs, and build resilient supply chains. Revenue is generated through subscriptions to its software solutions. The company's technology aims to provide end-to-end visibility and control over an organization's spending, from sourcing materials to final payment.
