Greenfunding is a Japanese crowdfunding service operated by One More Inc. The platform was launched in April 2013, following the establishment of One More Inc. in June 2011 by CEO Takehiko Numata. In July 2015, the company entered into a capital and business alliance with Culture Convenience Club (CCC), making it a part of the CCC Group, which operates TSUTAYA, Tsutaya Books, and the V Point (formerly T-Point) loyalty program.
The platform specializes in purchase-based crowdfunding, focusing on carefully selected projects primarily in the consumer products space, including gadgets, tech, accessories, and entertainment categories like film and music. Project creators use the platform to secure funding, conduct market tests, and gain initial customers for new product launches. The business model is based on a success fee, charging a 20% commission on the total funds raised, but only if the project successfully reaches its predetermined funding goal. This is an all-or-nothing model; if a project fails to meet its goal, all pledges are returned to supporters, and no fee is charged.
A key feature of Greenfunding is its integration with the CCC Group's extensive retail network. This allows for unique online-to-offline promotional opportunities, such as product demonstrations and showcases at high-traffic retail locations like Tsutaya and Tsutaya Electrics stores. This synergy provides project creators with marketing support beyond simple fundraising. The platform also integrates with the V Point program, allowing over 70 million members to use their loyalty points to back projects. Greenfunding boasts a high project success rate, reported to be over 80%.
