GecadNET

In 1992, Radu Georgescu founded the GECAD Group in Romania, a venture that would produce several impactful technology companies. One of its key entities was Gecad NET, which focused on providing IT solutions and software distribution. The company established itself as a major player in the Romanian IT market, becoming one of the country's most recognized Microsoft partners and serving over 12,000 corporate clients with services like software licensing, security solutions, and IT services. The GECAD group became a notable incubator for tech businesses. One of its earliest successes was an antivirus technology, RAV Antivirus, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2003. Another significant entity, the online payment processor Gecad ePayment, was later acquired by the South African media giant Naspers in 2010. After a journey of over two decades, Gecad NET reached its own major milestone. In 2017, the company was acquired by Bittnet Systems, the first Romanian IT company to be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The deal, valued at around EUR 600,000, was part of Bittnet's strategy to consolidate the local IT market and expand its focus on cloud and cybersecurity services. This acquisition marked the successful exit for another of Georgescu's foundational ventures, cementing his reputation as a key figure in Romanian tech entrepreneurship.
