Fieldlens

Fieldlens provides a jobsite management and communication software platform for the construction industry, designed to connect field workers with the office. The company was founded in 2011 by Doug Chambers, Matt Sena, and Dave Small. Chambers, who served as CEO, brought years of construction industry experience to the venture, aiming to solve the communication inefficiencies he had personally encountered on job sites.

The company's core offering is a mobile-first application that allows for real-time collaboration among general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and owners. Its platform functions as a single hub for all project-related communication, transforming field chatter into organized, actionable data. Key features include the ability to create and share posts with photos, videos, and markups directly on digital drawings, manage punch lists, track RFIs, and document safety items. The system automatically generates daily reports, saving significant time for site supervisors who would otherwise compile them manually. Fieldlens was designed to be intuitive, with an interface similar to social media apps, and operates on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, generating revenue through per-user monthly or annual subscriptions.

In June 2017, WeWork, a major customer at the time, acquired Fieldlens to integrate the technology into its own rapidly expanding construction and space management operations. The goal was to create a unified solution for WeWork's end-to-end process, from site selection to building management. However, following a period of turmoil at WeWork, the company announced it would shut down the Fieldlens service in September 2020. The platform was saved in December 2020 when RedTeam, another construction management software provider, acquired the full technology stack. RedTeam has since continued to operate Fieldlens, both as a standalone product and integrated with its own software suite, ensuring continuity for its user base.
