In 2001, while still a student at Kyoto University, Yuki Naito founded Drecom. The company's initial focus was on internet services, starting with a blog platform. This early phase set the stage for a company that would continually adapt to the changing technology landscape. A significant turning point came in February 2006, when Drecom went public and was listed on the Mothers section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. This event provided the capital and visibility for the company to evolve its business model. Over the years, Drecom shifted its core focus from blog services to social learning and eventually to what it's known for today: mobile games and entertainment content. This transition involved partnerships with major players like Rakuten and Bandai Namco Entertainment, with whom they co-founded the subsidiary BXD. The company's journey has been one of calculated evolution, moving from web services to developing and operating popular mobile game titles. More recently, Drecom has ventured into the Web3 space, exploring blockchain technology and NFTs in its games. It also acquired the copyrights for the classic game series "Wizardry," signaling a commitment to both developing new IP and reviving beloved franchises. Through strategic pivots, Drecom transformed from a university student's startup into a publicly-traded entertainment and technology company.
