Bart Digital, now part of Sette, operates as a key agfintech firm providing digital solutions for agricultural financing in Brazil. The company was founded on December 9, 2016, by Mariana Bonora, Renato Girotto, Guilherme Costa, and Thiago Zampieri during a Hackathon Smart Agro event in Londrina. The founding team combined diverse expertise: Mariana Bonora, an attorney with over five years of experience in barter operations, recognized the bureaucratic hurdles in agricultural trade. Renato Girotto, a veterinarian and rural producer, brought hands-on knowledge of field operations and risk exposure from his work with an input distributor. The team was completed by computer engineers Thiago Zampieri, also a rural producer, and Guilherme Costa, who had a background in web and mobile solutions.

The company's core business revolves around its proprietary platform, Ativus, which digitizes and automates the formalization of agricultural titles and guarantees. This SaaS platform facilitates the issuance of Rural Product Notes (Cédula de Produto Rural - CPR), digital signatures, and electronic registration with notaries and clearinghouses like B3 and CERC. Bart Digital pioneered the issuance of the first digitally signed CPR in Brazil in 2016 and the first fully digital e-CPR in 2019. The business model primarily generates revenue through fees per transaction. Its client base is diverse, serving over 12 profiles of agribusiness companies, including agricultural resellers, industries, trading companies, financial institutions, cooperatives, and rural producers.

Significant milestones mark the company's trajectory. In 2017, Bart Digital secured a R$2.2 million seed investment from SP Ventures, which enabled the company to scale its operations. That same year, it joined Pulse Hub, the innovation hub of Raízen. The company experienced accelerated growth influenced by the pandemic in 2020 and the sanction of Brazil's Agro Law, which increased demand for digital formalization. By August 2023, its platform had transacted over R$8.5 billion in 2022, with projections to reach R$15 billion in 2023. In June 2024, Bart Digital announced a merger with A de Agro, a startup specializing in AI for rural property risk analysis, to form a new company called Sette. This strategic fusion combines Bart's transactional and document management capabilities with A de Agro's territorial data processing to create a comprehensive agricultural credit infrastructure. The newly formed Sette started with over 400 clients and a combined R$27 billion in transacted agricultural titles and guarantees.
