Agility, a prominent player in the global logistics industry, traces its roots back to 1979 when it was established as a state-owned enterprise in Kuwait. The company underwent a significant transformation in 1997 when it was privatized, marking the beginning of its journey towards becoming a global logistics powerhouse.
Under the leadership of Tarek Sultan, who played a pivotal role in its expansion, Agility embarked on a series of strategic acquisitions and investments that broadened its reach and capabilities. The company's focus on supply chain innovation and infrastructure development allowed it to cater to a diverse range of industries, from aviation services to fuel logistics.
One of the most significant milestones in Agility's history was the sale of its core commercial logistics business, Global Integrated Logistics (GIL), to DSV, a leading transport and logistics company. This transaction, structured as an all-shares deal, resulted in Agility acquiring an 8% stake in DSV, further solidifying its position in the global logistics market.
Today, Agility continues to invest in supply chain innovation, sustainability, and resilience, maintaining a strong presence across six continents. Its journey from a local Kuwaiti enterprise to a global logistics leader exemplifies the power of strategic vision and adaptability in the ever-evolving logistics industry.
