The story of Zhaoonline begins not in the digital age, but in 1985 with a man named Zhao Yong in Germany. Mr. Zhao established the Germany ZHAO Stamp Company, focusing on philatelic materials from China and Southeast Asia. He expanded by starting a mail sales auction business in 1988 and acquiring the German Julius Auction House in 1990, building a reputation in European philatelic circles. In 1995, the journey pivoted back to its roots when Mr. Zhao returned to China and founded Shanghai Zhao Yong Philatelic Articles Co., Ltd. Recognizing the internet's potential, the company launched its own website in 1997. This led to the creation of Zhaoonline.com in 2000, establishing a C2C e-commerce platform for stamps, coins, and paper money. This move brought the traditional world of collectibles into the modern, online era. A significant transformation occurred in 2006 when Zhaoonline.com ceased its traditional business to focus entirely on being a professional online service firm. It introduced an online auction model, directly challenging traditional auction houses. By 2008, Zhaoonline had become the leading online philatelic auction platform in China. Today, the platform serves a global user base, offering a vast database of sales records and facilitating the trade of collectibles online.
