Zepp Hall Network, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan, operates a chain of live music venues across Asia. The company was established on June 17, 1997, initially as Hall Network Inc., and later rebranded. The business was conceptualized to address a gap in the market for mid-sized, standing-room concert venues catering to audiences of 2,000-3,000 people, an alternative to traditionally seated theaters.
The network's core business model is venue operation. It provides a standardized, one-stop solution for artists and tour promoters by equipping all its halls with high-quality, pre-installed sound systems, lighting, and stage machinery. This uniformity allows performers to tour multiple cities with minimal setup time and reduced production costs, as technical specifications can be digitally transferred between venues. Revenue is generated by hosting a wide array of events, including live concerts by both domestic and international artists, corporate functions, conventions, and private parties.
Initially launched in Japan with its first hall in Sapporo, the network expanded to major Japanese cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Zepp has since extended its operations internationally, with venues in New Taipei, Taiwan, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The international expansion was supported by Japan's Cool Japan Fund. The halls are known for their advanced audio-visual technology, often featuring NEXO and Yamaha sound equipment, and some locations offer premium services such as VIP boxes with private lounges.
