XII Braves
Singaporean mobile game developer.
Based in Singapore, XII Braves Pte Ltd is a mobile game development studio established in 2014 by co-founders Chris Ng and Jonathan Leong. The company's name originates from the 12 founding members, a team of seasoned veterans from successful game companies like Nexon, Gumi Asia, and Gameloft, with collective experience on AAA mobile titles such as Brave Frontier and Puzzle Trooper. Their mission is to create high-quality, polished gaming experiences for a global audience.
The studio operates on a free-to-play model, generating revenue through in-app purchases. Their business strategy focuses on developing mid-core, turn-based role-playing games (RPGs) for iOS and Android devices, characterized by detailed 2D and 3D visuals and orchestral music. In May 2016, XII Braves secured a multi-million dollar strategic investment from FunPlus, a major social games company, which also became the global publisher for their first title. This partnership was part of FunPlus's $50 million 'PublishingPlus' fund aimed at supporting independent game developers. On January 1, 2020, XII Braves was acquired by Diandian Interactive Beijing Technology and now operates as a subsidiary.
XII Braves' flagship title, "Valiant Force," launched in 2016 and brought the studio international recognition. This turn-based tactical RPG, set in the fantasy land of Arathos, allows players to assemble teams from over 200 characters and 40 job classes. The game was a commercial success, generating over US$30 million globally from more than 2 million downloads and winning the People's Choice Award at the 2nd International Mobile Gaming Awards SEA. Following this success, the studio expanded its portfolio with titles like "Shining Beyond" and the sequel, "Valiant Force 2." However, the service for Valiant Force 2 was discontinued on November 30, 2023.
