Xendo

Xendo, operating under the web domain xen.do, was established in 2013 by Dominic Lee and Julian Gay as a hosted enterprise search service. The San Francisco-based startup aimed to solve the productivity drain experienced by knowledge workers who frequently switch between various cloud applications. Its core offering was a platform that provided unified search across more than 30 enterprise cloud services, including Google Workspace, Office 365, Salesforce, and Dropbox, effectively creating a centralized information hub. The business model centered on saving organizations significant time and money by streamlining the process of locating documents, emails, contacts, and other data scattered across disparate systems. The technology not only performed high-speed searches but also surfaced contextually relevant information, helping to apply institutional knowledge and prevent redundant work.

The company's journey began with seed funding from the Alchemist Accelerator in 2014, which amounted to $28K. This initial backing helped launch the development of its Google Chrome extension, which allowed users to access the cross-application search functionality without leaving their primary work interface. Xendo's client roster included major enterprises such as Deloitte, Telefonica, Nokia, Cisco, and Intel. The startup's trajectory culminated in an acquisition. While some sources point to an acquisition by AppDirect in late 2015 or early 2016, other records indicate an acquisition by ProPharma Group on August 21, 2018. It's important to note there is a separate Netherlands-based life sciences consulting firm also named Xendo, which was definitively acquired by ProPharma Group, creating a potential point of confusion in public records. Following its time as an independent entity, the enterprise search startup ceased operations under its original model.
