Wenabi, legally structured as a SAS and holding the ESUS label (Solidarity Enterprise of Social Utility), was established in Paris, France, in 2016. The company was founded by three friends with complementary skills: Emmanuel Bentejac, an expert in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); Thomas Soucaille, with a background in finance; and Aristide Flandrin, a tech specialist. Bentejac's journey into entrepreneurship stemmed from a desire to create a business with a positive societal impact and a viable economic model, leading to the inception of Wenabi. His prior experience includes roles in climate and energy consulting at SOGREAH and business development at EcoAct, which provided a strong foundation for Wenabi's mission.
The firm operates on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model, generating revenue through annual subscriptions from corporate clients. Its services are provided free of charge to non-profit organizations. Wenabi developed a platform designed to connect businesses with non-profits, enabling companies to implement and manage employee engagement programs. This platform facilitates employee access to volunteering opportunities, skills-based sponsorship (mécénat de compétences), and financial donations. Key features include matching algorithms based on values and location, event creation for corporate volunteering, and integrated donation solutions. The platform serves to enhance a company's employer brand, a key factor in attracting and retaining talent, and to make employees aware of their company's CSR initiatives.
A significant milestone in Wenabi's history was its merger with its competitor, Vendredi, announced on January 21, 2025, to form a new entity named Komeet. This strategic consolidation was driven by the shared vision of both companies and the increasing urgency of social and environmental issues. The merger aims to create a leading European player in corporate societal engagement, combining their expertise to amplify their impact. Before the merger, Wenabi had achieved considerable scale, having facilitated 580,000 hours of solidarity actions and raised €2.5 million in donations for non-profits by 2024. The company had also secured $1.1 million in a seed funding round on October 7, 2019, led by SIDE Capital and Kima Ventures, which supported its growth and platform development.
The newly formed Komeet continues the mission on a larger scale, with a team of over 70 people dedicated to accelerating the sustainable and responsible transformation of businesses across France and Europe.
