ViBe Saúde is a digital health company in Brazil providing accessible primary care through its mobile application. The company was founded in 2018 by Ian Bonde and Ricardo Joseph. The two met 15 years prior while working together at a management consulting firm on various healthcare-related projects. They initially launched ViBe Saúde with a business-to-business (B2B) model, offering a health and wellness platform to corporate clients.
The turning point for the company came in March 2020 with the broader authorization of telemedicine in Brazil due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That same month, ViBe secured a R$12 million seed round led by the Swedish-Brazilian investment firm Webrock Ventures and entered a technology partnership with Doktor.se, a prominent European digital health company. This enabled ViBe to expand its services into telemedicine and launch a business-to-consumer (B2C) offering in June 2020. By January 2021, the company had raised a R$54 million (approximately US$10 million) Series A round to fuel its expansion.
ViBe's platform operates on a freemium model, targeting the large portion of the Brazilian population that relies on the public healthcare system. It offers on-demand and scheduled virtual consultations with general practitioners, psychologists, nutritionists, and other specialists. The service also includes digital therapeutics for chronic care management, integrated with electronic health records and wellness wearables. While some services are free, users can subscribe for more extensive access. The company has also established B2B partnerships, including agreements with Rede D'Or, Brazil's largest private hospital group, and offering services to consultants for Natura and Avon. More recently, ViBe Saúde has begun developing an AI-based health ecosystem, including a clinical safety tool called Trust AI.
