In 1989, Venyu Solutions began its journey as Network Technology Group, a consulting firm focused on designing and maintaining networks in Louisiana. The company was a pioneer in offsite backup and one of the first in the U.S. to use virtualization for disaster recovery, a move that proved critical after Hurricane Katrina. A key figure in the company's story is founder and CEO Scott Thompson. A significant transformation occurred in 2009 when Network Technology Group merged with AmeriVault to form Venyu. This event solidified the company's focus on data protection, cloud services, and data center solutions. The next major chapter unfolded in September 2013, when the regional telecommunications provider EATEL acquired Venyu. This acquisition was a strategic play for EATEL to enter the growing cloud-based business services and data center markets. Venyu continued to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, maintaining its staff and management team. This structure allowed Venyu to leverage EATEL’s expanding fiber network and financial resources for further growth. Most recently, in May 2023, DartPoints, a data center operator, acquired Venyu from its then-parent company, REV (formerly EATEL). This acquisition expanded DartPoints' portfolio to 11 data centers across the United States and integrated Venyu’s facilities in Baton Rouge and Shreveport into a larger network. The move was part of DartPoints' strategy to invest in edge markets and enhance its infrastructure.
