Vantem Global is a construction technology company focused on manufacturing energy-efficient and affordable housing at scale. The company was founded by CEO Chris Anderson, an entrepreneur with a background in sustainable solutions. His experience co-founding and leading an international sustainable timber products company for two decades instilled a passion for sustainability that carried over to Vantem. Growing up in South America, Anderson witnessed firsthand the environmental and social challenges that he aims to address with his current venture. The idea for Vantem stemmed from the frustration of seeing high-precision components being installed into imprecise structures on traditional construction sites.

Vantem's core business revolves around a proprietary panelized building system used to manufacture factory-built, modular units. These structural panels are load-bearing and can be used for walls, floors, and roofs, eliminating the need for additional reinforcement. Made from a proprietary cementitious board with an insulation core, the panels are described as being highly insulated, fire-resistant, and resilient to hurricanes and earthquakes. This construction method is reported to be up to 50% faster and 20% less expensive than traditional building techniques. The company's technology allows for the production of net-zero homes—buildings that produce as much energy as they consume—at competitive costs.

The company operates on a business-to-business model, partnering with local developers through joint ventures to establish factories. These factories produce the modular units for a range of projects, including single-family homes, multifamily developments, senior living, and workforce housing. Vantem has already deployed its system in over three million square feet of living space in countries such as Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and the Caribbean. Following a successful Series A funding round co-led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures (an investment firm founded by Bill Gates), Quadrant Management, and TEM Capital, Vantem is expanding its operations into the United States. The company plans to build 15 factories across the U.S. over seven years, with facilities planned for states including Arizona, California, and Texas, to address the affordable housing shortage.
