Uniti Wireless, now part of Uniti Group, is a provider of high-speed fixed wireless broadband services for residential and business customers in metropolitan and regional areas of Australia. The company was founded in Adelaide, South Australia, in 2013 by Sasha Baranikov and Che Metcalfe. Before co-founding Uniti, Baranikov held roles in state government and the education sector, while Metcalfe had a background as a senior network engineer. Their goal was to offer a competitive alternative to the National Broadband Network (NBN), focusing on areas where NBN services were slower to roll out or underperforming.

The company's core offering is a super-fast broadband service delivered via its own fibre-backed wireless network. This infrastructure allows Uniti to provide internet speeds of up to 100Mbps. The business model centers on monthly subscription fees from its customer base. Uniti primarily serves residential users, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and enterprise clients, distinguishing itself through customer service and network performance.

Uniti Wireless experienced significant growth, culminating in its listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in February 2019 following a successful IPO that raised $18 million. This milestone was followed by a period of aggressive expansion and acquisition. In 2020, Uniti Group, the parent entity, acquired several other telecommunications companies, including LBNCo and OptiComm, significantly expanding its fibre network footprint. This strategic consolidation led to the company becoming a major player in the Australian wholesale and retail super-fast broadband market. In 2022, a consortium comprising Morrison & Co and Brookfield Asset Management acquired Uniti Group, taking the company private.
