Tushky Events & Entertainment Private Limited, operating as Tushky.com, was an online marketplace for leisure activities and real-world experiences based in Mumbai, India. The company was founded in 2011 by Talvinder Singh, Kranti Agarwal, and Kunal Sharma. Singh, an aerospace engineer from IIT Mumbai, conceived the idea after experiencing frustration with local search engines when trying to find weekend activities, seeing a need for a streamlined platform for booking and scheduling. He left his position as CTO at Pace Education to launch the venture.
The platform initially focused on connecting travelers with local guides, later pivoting to a broader marketplace for various leisure activities, from skydiving to pottery classes. Tushky's business model centered on providing a platform for individuals and small businesses, many without a dedicated web presence, to list their services and time slots for a fee. This allowed users to book unique experiences, such as sailing or cupcake making workshops, as easily as a movie ticket. The company charged a service fee on each booking made through the platform.
Tushky's target market consisted of individuals seeking interesting leisure activities and small service providers looking to monetize their skills and free time. Over its operational years, the company expanded its offerings to over 2,000 experiences in more than 100 cities. The firm secured a total of $343,000 in funding over four rounds from investors including 500 Global, GSF, and several angel investors like Vijay Shekhar Sharma. Despite early signs of success, including serving over 100,000 travelers, Tushky struggled to achieve the necessary scale to sustain its operations. The company ceased operations in August 2015, citing its inability to scale as the primary reason for shutting down.
