Trumpit was a mobile photo messaging application that enabled users to send photos directly to another user's lock screen. Founded in 2014 by Bill Gianoukos, Carl Nehme, and Nick Lizotte, the Boston-based company aimed to ensure that shared photos were instantly seen. The app allowed users to snap a picture, apply filters or stickers from over twenty editing options, and send it to individuals or groups. The recipient's phone would light up, displaying the image above the lock screen, from which they could reply or react without unlocking their device.
The company raised $1.2 million in venture capital from investors including BDS Capital, New York Angels, Counterview Capital, and angel investor Jason Robins. In August 2016, the online furniture retailer Wayfair acquired Trumpit for its intellectual property and to hire its seven employees, including the three co-founders. The acquisition was intended to enhance Wayfair's mobile capabilities, particularly in customer service, by allowing customers to easily send visual images with their inquiries.
