Trukto was an Egyptian logistics technology operator founded in 2017 by Ahmed Khedr and Ali Khadr. The company developed a mobile and web application designed to connect shippers directly with truckers across the country. Trukto's platform targeted a diverse client base, including shippers in the agriculture, consumer goods, cement, and logistics sectors. It established strong operational expertise and close relationships with both truckers and large clients, such as consumer goods manufacturers and freight forwarders.
As a pioneer in Egypt's trucking marketplace, Trukto arranged over 20,000 loads within its first two years of operation. The business operated on an angel-funded model, which provided the founders with the autonomy to make strategic decisions for the company. However, the company faced challenges in raising sufficient working capital to sustain its rapid growth.
In December 2019, Trukto was acquired by its local competitor, Trella, in a strategic merger aimed at creating Egypt's largest technology-enabled trucking platform. The acquisition combined Trukto's operational strengths and network with Trella's technological platform and access to capital. Following the acquisition, Ahmed Khedr remained a significant shareholder and oversaw the transition, while Ali Khadr joined Trella as Head of Growth to lead the ports business.
