TripStack
Providing access to unique flight content, increasing competitiveness, and providing growth opportunities for airlines and travel retailers.
TripStack operates as a B2B travel technology provider, focusing on expanding flight booking options for Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) and airlines. Founded in 2016 in Toronto, Canada, by John Boguslawski and Naman Budhdeo, the company set out with the objective of providing "Every Flight on Earth" (EFOE) to travel retailers. A significant milestone was achieved in June 2018 when the company secured $6 million in Series A funding to accelerate development. This was followed by its acquisition by the Swedish-based Etraveli Group in June 2019, a strategic move to enhance Etraveli's technological capabilities and expand its North American presence.
The company's business model is centered on a transaction-based fee, charging clients on a per-booking basis without additional fees for integration or look-to-book ratios. This B2B-exclusive approach ensures it does not compete with its own clients—primarily OTAs and, more recently, airlines themselves. TripStack provides its partners with two core products delivered via a single API: EFOE and TripBuilder. EFOE focuses on integrating a vast network of Low-Cost Carriers (LCC), while TripBuilder is the company's Virtual Interlining (VI) solution. Virtual interlining is a key component, using algorithms to analyze billions of flight combinations to create unique, cost-effective itineraries by connecting carriers that do not have traditional interline agreements. This can result in significantly lower fares and provide more travel options on many routes.
For its airline clients, TripStack offers a white-label platform called "Self-Connect for Airlines." This allows an airline to offer its customers itineraries to destinations it doesn't directly serve by combining its flights with those of other carriers, thereby capturing traffic that would otherwise be lost. The airline receives a share of the revenue from these bookings, turning its website traffic into a new monetization channel. To mitigate the risks associated with self-connecting flights, such as missed connections due to delays, TripStack offers a guarantee that covers rebooking or accommodation for affected passengers. The company has established key partnerships, including with Navitaire, an Amadeus company, to further integrate its VI technology into airline systems.
