TravelerCar, which rebranded as Free2Move in 2020, was established in Paris, France, in 2012. The company was founded by Ahmed Mhiri, who served as CEO, and Lotfi Louez, the CMO. Mhiri, a Franco-Tunisian entrepreneur, leveraged his background in information systems security and project management to launch the venture. His experience in IT security at firms like CertEurope was foundational to building a trusted mobility platform.
The firm operates a multifaceted global mobility platform targeting the travel and automotive sectors. A key milestone in its history was the acquisition by Groupe PSA (now Stellantis), which began with an investment in 2016 and culminated in a full acquisition in 2019. Following this, TravelCar merged with and adopted the name of PSA's existing mobility brand, Free2Move, to consolidate services and accelerate development. The founding team remained integral to the new structure post-merger.
TravelerCar's business model is built on two primary product lines. The first, T-Park, is a global parking booking solution available in over 60 countries. It serves travelers at airports, train stations, and city centers, while also providing a revenue channel for partners like airlines, hotels, and parking operators. The second product, T-Rent, is a peer-to-peer car-sharing service. This model allows car owners to receive free parking and earn money by renting their idle vehicles to other travelers, who in turn benefit from rental rates up to 50% lower than traditional agencies. TravelCar manages the entire rental process, including comprehensive insurance coverage. Following the integration into Free2Move, the service portfolio expanded significantly to include short-term rentals, car subscriptions, ride-hailing (VTC) booking, and electric vehicle charging access, creating a comprehensive Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform.
