Established in 2008 and based in Tilburg, Netherlands, Transsmart provides a cloud-based delivery management software platform designed to streamline the shipping process for businesses. The core of Transsmart's business is its software that integrates with a client's existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS). This integration allows for the automation of the entire shipping workflow, from booking shipments and printing carrier-compliant labels to generating customs documents. The platform enables users to compare rates and services across more than 400 carriers, including major players like DHL, UPS, and FedEx, ensuring they can select the most suitable option for each parcel or pallet. Revenue is generated based on the software subscription and usage.

Key features of the Transsmart service include checkout optimization for webshops by offering various delivery options and pick-up points, automated and personalized track-and-trace email notifications for end customers, and advanced reporting functionalities. These capabilities help businesses reduce transportation costs and labor, while enhancing the customer's post-purchase experience. The system is built to be scalable, supporting clients as they grow and expand their logistical needs.

In June 2019, Transsmart was acquired by Unifaun, a Nordic leader in cloud Transport Management Systems, in a move to create a pan-European market leader. This strategic combination expanded the group's customer base to over 100,000 and increased its annual parcel processing volume significantly. Subsequently, in August 2021, Transsmart, along with Unifaun and Consignor, merged to form a new entity called nShift. This merger, backed by Marlin Equity Partners and Francisco Partners, solidified its position as a major provider of delivery management solutions in Europe, and the Transsmart brand now operates under the nShift umbrella.
