Tolar

Tolar is a Slovenian technology infrastructure provider founded in 2017 by Dražen Kapusta and Josip Maričević. The company has developed HashNET, a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) designed to overcome the scalability and speed limitations of traditional blockchain technologies. The HashNET protocol is built on a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) architecture combined with a Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism and masternodes. This structure enables the network to process a high volume of transactions, with initial claims of over 200,000 transactions per second (TPS) and demonstrated prototype speeds of 130,000 to 150,000 TPS.

The company offers its technology for both public and private blockchain implementations, catering to enterprise clients and consortia that require secure and interoperable platforms. Use cases for Tolar's HashNET technology span multiple industries, including finance for payments and settlements, identity management, and logistics for supply chain transparency. The platform is also designed to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), allowing for the migration of decentralized applications (DApps). Hashnet d.o.o. has developed the SI-Chain, which serves as the national blockchain test infrastructure for the Republic of Slovenia, and is under evaluation to become a pilot protocol for the European Blockchain Service Infrastructure (EBSI). The project is supported by its cryptocurrency, the Tolar (TOL) token, which was initially an ERC-20 token before the mainnet launch. An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) concluded in September 2018.

The founding team combines entrepreneurial and technical expertise. Dražen Kapusta has a background as Principal of Cotrugli Business School, while Josip Maričević, the CTO, is an engineer with prior experience as a core developer at the cross-blockchain project Blocknet.
