TickTrade Systems, a Toronto-based financial technology firm, was established in 2013 by Baha Ohcebol and Alexander Culiniac. The founders, who were colleagues in the capital markets division of a major Canadian bank, identified a gap in the market for a modern foreign exchange platform and decided to build their own. After its launch in 2016, the company's platform quickly gained adoption. A significant milestone occurred in November 2021, when smartTrade Group acquired TickTrade Systems. The co-founders, Ohcebol and Culiniac, remained with the combined entity in senior management roles and as significant investors.

The platform supports a variety of financial instruments, including FX spot, forwards, swaps, NDFs, and options. It also provides solutions for global payments, liquidity management, risk management, and predictive analytics. One of its key features is the use of AI to help institutions predict client needs and optimize pricing.
The acquisition by smartTrade was a strategic move to combine TickTrade's analytics, payments, and distribution technology with smartTrade's connectivity, aggregation, and risk management capabilities. This integration resulted in a more comprehensive product offering under the smartTrade name, serving a global clientele across North America, Europe, and Asia. Following the acquisition, the joint entity launched a combined platform known as LiquidityFX next-generation (LFX-NG), which integrates features from both original solutions, including capabilities for cryptocurrency trading.
