Thrill One Sports & Entertainment is an action sports operator and media company formed in January 2020 through the merger of Nitro Circus, Street League Skateboarding (SLS), and the production company Superjacket Productions. The company's stated vision was to consolidate the fragmented action sports market by uniting leading brands to create a singular platform for athletes, fans, and sponsors. The formation was backed by investment firms The Raine Group and Causeway Media Partners. Joe Carr, a former executive at the UFC and World Surf League, was appointed CEO to lead the new entity.
The company's portfolio includes several major action sports brands. Nitro Circus, co-founded by athlete Travis Pastrana, is known for its global live tours and action sports competitions. Street League Skateboarding, founded by Rob Dyrdek, is a professional street skateboarding competition series. Thrill One Media, originally Superjacket Productions, is the content production arm co-founded by Dyrdek and responsible for shows like "Ridiculousness". The company also operates Nitrocross (formerly Nitro Rallycross), a rallycross racing series that has expanded globally and introduced an all-electric supercar class.
In July 2022, Thrill One was acquired by private equity firms Fiume Capital and Juggernaut Capital Partners in a deal reportedly valued at $300 million. Co-investors in the acquisition included UFC President Dana White, television producer Craig Piligian, and Rob Dyrdek's Dyrdek Machine. This new ownership aims to fuel further growth and strategic acquisitions. The business generates revenue through a diversified model that includes live event ticket sales, sponsorships, media rights, and merchandising. The company has secured significant partnerships, including a major sponsorship with A SHOC Energy and a merchandising deal with Walmart for its Nitro Circus brand.
