In the world of specialized manufacturing, some companies carve out a niche so specific and vital that they become a cornerstone of the global supply chain. This is the story of ThinkonSemi. Founded in July 2013 in Jinzhou, China, by Pan Liansheng, the company focused on a critical component for the semiconductor industry: monocrystalline silicon materials used for IC etching. From its inception, ThinkonSemi aimed high, targeting the international advanced semiconductor materials industry. Through dedicated research and development, the company mastered key technologies for manufacturing large-diameter monocrystalline silicon. This allowed them to produce materials up to 19 inches in diameter, meeting a range of specifications for high, medium, and low resistance products. This technical capability opened doors, and nearly all of the company's products were exported to mainstream customers in Japan, South Korea, and the United States. A pivotal moment in the company's journey occurred less than seven years after its founding. In February 2020, ThinkonSemi successfully went public, listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market after raising approximately $124 million. This IPO provided the capital and visibility to further solidify its position in the competitive semiconductor materials sector, a market with major global players.
