The Home Salon is an on-demand platform for at-home beauty and wellness services, founded in Mumbai, India, in 2014 by the husband-and-wife duo Nihar Thanawala and Rishika Chandan. Both founders are graduates of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. The company was created to provide a convenient way for customers to access professional salon and spa treatments without leaving their homes.
The business operates by connecting certified stylists, therapists, and beauticians with customers through its app-based booking platform, which is available for iOS. Users can browse and book a variety of services, including treatments for skin, hair, nails, body spa, makeup, and styling. The model was designed to save clients time and make beauty services more accessible. The platform aimed to have professionals arrive at a customer's home in under an hour from booking.
In June 2015, The Home Salon graduated from the sixth acceleration program of VentureNursery. Following this, in August 2015, the company secured an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round from investors including VentureNursery and Artha India Ventures. The company was later acqui-hired in a merger and acquisition deal on October 4, 2016, by Jean Claude Biguine, a salon and spa chain.
