The Ayurveda Experience (TAE) has established a significant global footprint in the direct-to-consumer (D2C) Ayurvedic wellness and beauty market. Founded in 2010 by Rishabh Chopra, the company was born from his observation of the international market's keen interest in Indian philosophies during his time with the global non-profit AIESEC. Chopra, who had long aspired to be an entrepreneur, identified a gap for authentic Ayurvedic resources and education abroad, similar to the global rise of Yoga. The business was incubated at the Indian School of Business and initially began as a content platform in 2014 before expanding into manufacturing and selling its own products in 2017.
The company operates primarily through a D2C model, with over 95% of sales generated from its own app and website, serving a customer base of over 1.3 million across more than 20 countries, with a strong presence in North America, Europe, Canada, and Australia. Revenue is generated from the sale of a wide array of products and educational materials. In the fiscal year 2023, the company's revenue from operations saw a significant surge to Rs 259 crore, an 84% increase from the previous year. The business has successfully raised over $41 million in funding, including a $27 million Series C round in March 2024, to fuel brand enhancement, customer engagement, R&D, and distribution expansion.
TAE functions as a house of brands, offering a diverse portfolio of Ayurvedic products. This includes skincare, body care, hair care, and food supplements. Its flagship brand, iYURA, focuses on authentic Ayurvedic oils for face, hair, and body, with packaging that features traditional Madhubani folk art. Other brands include Ajara, which offers skincare with a modern twist; A Modernica Naturalist for luxe bath and body care; and Ayuttva, a range of food and beverage products. Beyond physical products, The Ayurveda Experience provides a holistic platform that includes educational courses, webinars, and consultations on various aspects of Ayurvedic wellness, from diet and weight loss to managing specific health concerns.
