TGP Peru

Transportadora de Gas del Perú (TGP) is the operator responsible for the design, construction, and operation of Peru's primary natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGL) transportation system. The company was established in 2000 after being granted a 33-year build, own, operate, and transfer concession by the Peruvian government. TGP's core business revolves around the transportation of hydrocarbons from the Camisea gas fields, located in the Cusco region of the Amazon jungle, to the Peruvian coast.

The company's extensive infrastructure includes a 730-kilometer pipeline for natural gas and another for NGLs, traversing the challenging geography of Peru's jungle, highlands, and coast. This system is pivotal to the nation's energy matrix, supplying the gas that generates approximately 50% of Peru's electricity. TGP's clients include gas distributors, power generation companies, industrial clients, and gas exporters. The business model is anchored in long-term, fixed, ship-or-pay agreements, which provide stable and predictable cash flows.

TGP began operations in August 2004, marking a significant milestone for Peru's energy sector. The project was initially developed by an international consortium that included Tecgas, Pluspetrol, Hunt Oil Company, SK Corporation, and Sonatrach. Over the years, the ownership structure has evolved. As of August 2025, an agreement was reached for EIG to acquire the 49.87% stake held by Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments). Other major shareholders include Enagás of Spain and Sonatrach of Algeria.
