Teconex

In 1986, Albert Wuidar established Teconex, a company focused on distributing electrical equipment. Based in Beyne-Heusay, Belgium, the business centered on a core product: the 'Teco' connector, a key component for connecting subscribers to the electrical grid that has been a benchmark in the market since 1932. The company built its reputation on supplying a vast range of low-voltage electrical materials, from circuit breakers to installation equipment, eventually stocking over 7,000 items to serve its professional clientele. The company's strategy evolved beyond simple distribution. Teconex developed capabilities in assembly, creating custom distribution boards and cabinets for installers, architects, and engineering firms. This adaptability allowed them to tackle complex projects, including smart grids and charging stations for electric vehicles. In a significant move, Teconex also began producing certain ranges of its professional LED lighting in-house at its Belgian facility starting in 2016. A pivotal moment in Teconex's journey occurred in 2024 when it was acquired by Sonepar, a global leader in the distribution of electrical products. This acquisition was part of Sonepar's broader strategy of growth through mergers, integrating established companies into its worldwide family. For Teconex, joining the Sonepar group provided access to the resources and scale of a major international player, marking a new chapter in its long history.
