In 1987, in the Provence region of France, Dominique Croizat turned his passion for all-terrain vehicles into a business, founding Technamm. The company began with a clear mission: transforming and adapting standard off-road vehicles for specialized civil and military missions. This venture started after identifying a critical gap in the market when firefighters in the south of France needed better-equipped vehicles to combat forest fires. Croizat, along with his team, began modifying existing chassis, initially from manufacturers like Toyota, to meet the rigorous demands of emergency services and military units. The company established itself as a key player by focusing on tailor-made solutions, working closely with clients like the French Ministry of Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior. This customer-centric approach allowed Technamm to develop a reputation for robust and reliable vehicles, leading to significant contracts, including a notable order for 500 Masstech T4 military SUVs for the French army. The business wasn't just about heavy-duty modifications; it was about listening to operational needs and engineering practical, effective solutions for complex environments. A pivotal moment in Technamm's journey occurred in 2024 with a primary minority buyout. This strategic move brought in new partners, including BNP Paribas Développement, Bpifrance, and AfricInvest. The investment was designed to fuel industrial development, support international expansion, particularly in Africa, and facilitate a future managerial transition, ensuring the company's long-term growth and innovative spirit.
