The story begins in 1928, when founder Shoji Tamaru started a wool fabric wholesale business in Osaka called Tangoya Rashaten. For decades, the company operated as a traditional fabric wholesaler. A significant shift occurred in 2009 when, leveraging its extensive network for sourcing fabrics, the company launched its own custom-order suit brand, "Global Style." This move marked a pivot from simply supplying materials to creating a direct-to-consumer retail experience. The new strategy, led by the current president Hiroshi Tashiro, aimed to change the perception of custom suits from being expensive and old-fashioned to something modern and accessible. The company focused on creating stylish stores, offering a wide variety of fabrics and suit models at reasonable prices, and promoting their concept of "ENJOY ORDER!" to a younger generation of business professionals. This new focus proved successful. The business, now centered on the Global Style brand, grew steadily. The playbook was simple: open new locations, attract customers with a modern approach to tailoring, and build a reputation for quality and value. This journey culminated in a major milestone in August 2021, when TANGOYA Co., Ltd. completed its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's JASDAQ market, signaling a new era of growth and public accountability for the nearly century-old company.
