TableHero operated as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider targeting the hospitality sector, specifically small local businesses and restaurants. The company was founded in 2014 by Deap Ubhi, Chetan Vaity, and Aman Prakash Mohla. Ubhi, the CEO, brought significant entrepreneurial experience to the venture, having previously founded the restaurant discovery platform Burrp! and served as the COO of FreeCharge. This background, combined with his family's 30-year history in the restaurant business, provided deep industry insight. The founding team also had extensive experience from roles at companies like Flipkart, Ola Cabs, and Zomato.

The core of TableHero's offering was an intelligent operating system designed to simplify the technological needs of restaurants. Its primary product was a suite of tools that automated and managed a restaurant's digital presence. A key feature was the "one-click" website builder, which could automatically generate and update a restaurant's website by pulling information from sources like Google Places and Yelp. The platform also included a comprehensive reservation and booking system, managed through an iPad application, which handled online reservations, walk-ins, and waitlists. This system aimed to provide a powerful yet easy-to-use solution for front-of-house staff.

The business model was based on a simple monthly fee for its suite of services, which included website management, reservation tools, customer management, and payment processing. In February 2016, TableHero announced it had raised approximately $1 million in a seed funding round led by growX ventures, with participation from notable angel investors like the founders of FreeCharge. The company, which had headquarters in both Mountain View, California, and Bangalore, India, initially planned to launch its services in major U.S. cities like Portland and Seattle before expanding. Despite developing a comprehensive product suite, the company struggled with sales and customer acquisition. After failing to secure a new round of funding, TableHero ran out of capital in late 2017 and eventually ceased operations, with the business status listed as "Out of Business" as of February 2019.
