Swift High Speed
Rural broadband provider delivering fibre and wireless internet.
Swift High Speed was a facilities-based rural broadband service provider founded by Evan Schroeder and Chris Teetaert, formally launching in February 2014 in Manitoba, Canada. Schroeder's interest in improving rural internet connectivity began in 2004, leading him to install services for Xplornet. In 2012, he partnered with Chris Teetaert, and a year later, they acquired the client base of Chill Communications, merging it to create Swift High Speed.
The company focused on providing high-speed internet to underserved rural areas through a combination of fixed wireless and, later, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technologies. To meet increasing bandwidth demands, Swift High Speed began deploying its own fibre optic network in 2019. The business expanded through strategic acquisitions, including parts of No Limits Internet Solutions in 2016 and both Oak Networks and 3T Systems in early 2020.
In September 2021, the internet operations of Swift High Speed were acquired by Xplornet Communications Inc., a major Canadian rural-focused broadband provider. The acquisition included over 6,000 customers, 218 km of fibre optic network, and 119 broadcast tower locations. Following the sale, the original ownership group and staff formed a new business named "Swift Underground," which now operates as a fibre optic installation company and an authorized dealer for Xplore, continuing to build out fibre infrastructure in the region.
