Jitian Xingzhou, legally known as Suzhou Jitian Xingzhou Space Technology Co., Ltd., is a commercial space company established in June 2021. The firm was co-founded by Dr. Zhang Liu and Lin Jun, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Dr. Zhang, who serves as the company's legal representative, brings nearly two decades of research experience in novel optical payload design, satellite control, and Time Delay Integration (TDI) in-motion imaging technology. The core team is largely drawn from the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, with members possessing over a decade of experience in aerospace engineering projects.
The company's primary business involves the development, manufacturing, and sale of space optical payloads and high-end optical components. It provides a comprehensive suite of services, including the entire lifecycle of satellite systems from constellation design and construction to ground system development, operations, and data services. Jitian Xingzhou's revenue is generated from the sale of these hardware products and providing associated technical services and data products. Its client base includes state-owned enterprises like China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) and China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), as well as private commercial space companies such as Geely's Spacety and Ellipspace. As of late 2024, the company had delivered over 20 optical payloads, with more than 10 operating in orbit.
Jitian Xingzhou's key offering is its proprietary "High-Timeliness, High-Geometric, High-Spectral" imaging technology, which aims to increase satellite imaging efficiency by more than tenfold. This technology addresses the traditional trade-off between geometric and spectral resolution in optical remote sensing. The company's product line includes a full spectrum of aerospace optical remote sensing cameras with resolutions ranging from 0.5m to 200m. A significant milestone was achieved in August and September 2024 with the successful launch of the Jitianxing A-03 (Suzhou-1) and Jitianxing A-01 (Jilin University-1) satellites, which validated their advanced imaging technologies in orbit. Financially, the company secured an angel round of tens of millions of RMB in July 2022 and a Pre-A round of a similar scale in October 2024, led by Oriza-Zenith and followed by investors like Boyan Fund and Sunan Fin-Enjoy.
