Styrkás is an Icelandic holding company focused on servicing the national economy through a strategy of internal and external growth across five core sectors: energy and chemicals, machinery and equipment, environmental services, industrial operations, and asset management. The company's portfolio includes several leading Icelandic businesses. Skeljungur operates in the energy and chemical products sector, Klettur is a key provider of sales and services for tools and equipment, and Stólpi Gámar is a market leader in container and housing unit solutions. Styrkás has been actively expanding through strategic acquisitions, including Stólpi Gámar and its affiliates in 2024, to build a third operational pillar in property management and rental activities. The company also signed agreements to acquire Hringrás ehf., bolstering its environmental and recycling services, and Kraft ehf., a distributor for MAN and Palfinger.
The company's CEO is Ásmundur Tryggvason, who was appointed in October 2023. Prior to joining Styrkás, Tryggvason served as the Managing Director of Corporate and Investment Banking at Íslandsbanki. The board chairman is Ásgeir Helgi Reykfjörð Gylfason, who is also the CEO of SKEL fjárfestingafélag, a major shareholder. Styrkás is majority-owned by institutional investors, with SKEL fjárfestingafélag hf. holding a 47.9% stake and SÁ Horn slhf. holding 39.2% as of June 2025. The business model is centered on acquiring and integrating established companies to create synergies and enhance service offerings to the corporate market. A primary strategic objective for Styrkás is to complete an initial public offering and list on the Icelandic stock market by the end of 2027.
