Strateq Group

In 1983, a technology company was founded in Malaysia that would become a key player in the country's IT industry. This company, Strateq Group, began its journey as a systems integrator. The leadership team, including key figures like Executive Chairman YAM Tunku Dato' Seri Shahabuddin, Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir Dr Ahmad Fikri Hussein, and Group Managing Director Datuk Tan Seng Kit, guided the company's evolution. Over the decades, Strateq transformed from its integrator roots into a software and services provider, developing its own products. The company focused on crucial sectors, building deep expertise in healthcare, oil and gas, and data center solutions. This strategy led to long-standing relationships, with many customers staying with the company for over 20 years, and expansion into markets like Singapore, China, and the United States. A significant move came in 2013 when private equity firm Navis Capital Partners invested, purchasing a majority stake to help fuel growth opportunities across Asia. A major turning point occurred in March 2020. Singapore's StarHub announced it would acquire a majority 88% stake in Strateq for an initial amount of approximately S$82 million. This acquisition marked a new chapter, integrating Strateq's data-driven solutions and regional enterprise experience with StarHub's telecommunications resources. The deal provided an exit for Navis Capital and positioned Strateq for its next phase of growth as part of a larger regional entity.
