Stoa
Insurance advisory platform for insurance sales.
Stoa is a Brazilian insurtech firm positioning itself as a comprehensive support platform for small and medium-sized insurance brokers, a segment that constitutes 88% of the market. Founded in 2021 by Eduardo Marcellini, Luiz Sampaio, and Amanda Fagundes, the company is headquartered in Belo Horizonte. The founding team brings a blend of relevant experience: Marcellini has a background in mechanical engineering, project management, and data science, with experience at Prudential do Brasil ; Sampaio has over a decade of experience as an insurance broker and is a former accounting auditor with experience at Deloitte and Prudential do Brasil.
The company operates on a dual revenue model, earning a transactional fee from insurance carriers on policy sales and a monthly subscription fee from brokers for using its digital platform. Stoa's core offering, the Stoa Connect platform, aims to digitize and simplify the entire insurance management process for brokers. This includes tools for quotes, policy management, financial administration, and handling of delinquencies and claims, all accessible via web, mobile, and WhatsApp. Beyond the CRM functionalities, Stoa provides brokers with a suite of services designed to boost their sales and operational efficiency. These services feature a specialized sales team, marketing tools, a customer service center for policyholders, and an active community for brokers to exchange knowledge. A significant component of their offering is the Stoa Educação, an educational platform providing over 100 hours of courses and webinars to help brokers expand their product knowledge and increase cross-selling opportunities. Additionally, Stoa offers white-label services, where its team can operate as an internal department for a brokerage, handling everything from post-sales back-office tasks to managing claims support.
Stoa has established partnerships with major insurers like Porto Seguro, SulAmérica, Bradesco Seguros, and Tokio Marine, among others. The firm has demonstrated significant growth, reporting a 100% increase in issued premiums in 2022 compared to 2021 and achieving break-even by the end of 2023 with a revenue of R$2.2 million. In early 2025, the company successfully raised R$2 million through an equity crowdfunding campaign to further invest in technology, expand its team, and enhance its platform tools. The platform currently supports over 300 brokers and manages more than 20,000 policies.
