Steele - Securimate

In the world of global business, risk is a constant. In 2001, a company called Securimate was founded in Austin, Texas, to address a growing challenge for large corporations: managing the compliance of their vast networks of third-party partners. Securimate developed a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform to help companies automate the process of onboarding, monitoring, and auditing their supply chain and sales channel partners. This provided a systematic way to handle regulatory and data privacy compliance across complex, global operations. Meanwhile, another company, Steele CIS, had been building expertise in due diligence and investigatory services for over two decades. Recognizing the complementary nature of their services, Steele CIS and Securimate officially joined forces in March 2017, rebranding as Steele Compliance Solutions, Inc. This move created a single entity that combined expert-led due diligence with an automated, software-based platform for managing third-party risk. The new entity continued to expand its capabilities through strategic acquisitions, including Compliance Wave for training, TransparINT for its AI capabilities, and Osprey Compliance Software for managing conflicts of interest. This series of acquisitions built a comprehensive, integrated risk management platform under the Steele brand. The company's journey reached a major inflection point in February 2021, when it was announced that Steele would be acquired by Diligent Corporation, a major player in the governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) space. The acquisition positioned Steele's ethics and compliance solutions within Diligent's broader modern governance platform, aiming to provide leaders with a more holistic view of risk management.
