Staked Hype

StakedHype (stHYPE) is a liquid staking protocol developed for the Hyperliquid network, designed to address issues of illiquidity and accessibility for HYPE token stakers. The platform allows users to stake their HYPE tokens and in return receive stHYPE, a liquid token that represents their staked assets. This mechanism enables users to maintain liquidity, allowing them to trade or use their staked assets in various other Decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications, such as borrowing, lending, and yield generation, while still earning staking rewards. The stHYPE token is designed to automatically accrue rewards in the user's wallet.

The protocol was created by Thunderhead, a team of entrepreneurs and developers. In August 2025, StakedHYPE was acquired by Valantis, a modular decentralized exchange (DEX) protocol, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition's goal was to vertically integrate StakedHYPE's liquid staking capabilities with Valantis's DEX to create deeper liquidity and a more efficient market. Following the acquisition, StakedHYPE's operations and development were transferred to Valantis Labs, and Thunderhead's founder, Addison Spiegel, joined Valantis as an advisor. At the time of the acquisition, StakedHYPE had a total value locked (TVL) of approximately $200 million.

The business model centers on providing a utility token (stHYPE) that enhances capital efficiency within the Hyperliquid ecosystem. By staking HYPE, users help secure the Hyperliquid network and receive stHYPE, which can be used across integrated DeFi protocols to generate additional yield. The platform serves cryptocurrency holders and DeFi users who want to participate in staking without locking up their capital. Smart contracts are audited to ensure security, and the platform operates on a non-custodial basis, meaning users retain control of their assets.
