Aditya Aggarwal, a graduate of the University of California (UCLA), previously worked as a management consultant, where his international travels exposed him to a variety of global spirits. This experience highlighted a gap in the market for Indian craft spirits that could tell a story on a global scale, inspiring him to establish Spaceman Spirits Lab. The company was designed to be a platform for innovation within the industry.

The company produces a range of premium craft spirits, including the Samsara gin, Sitara rum, and Amara pink vodka. Samsara, their flagship product, is a London Dry style gin made with eleven handpicked botanicals, including hemp seeds, rose petals, and vetiver grass. The product line has expanded to include experimental gins like a pink gin and a Kashmiri Kahwa and saffron-infused gin, as well as a craft rum named Sītārā, available in white and spiced versions. In early 2025, the company entered the super-premium vodka market with the launch of AMARA, an artisanal pink vodka. The company is also planning to enter the whisky, heritage liqueur, and tequila categories.

Spaceman Spirits Lab operates in the growing premium segment of the Indian alcoholic beverage market. Its business model focuses on creating and marketing a portfolio of distinct craft spirits. Revenue is generated through the sale of these products. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024, the company reported revenue of INR 14.7 crore, a significant increase from the previous year. The company has secured strategic investments from Tilaknagar Industries, a major Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) manufacturer. This partnership has increased Tilaknagar's stake in Spaceman Spirits Lab to 21.36% and provides Spaceman with access to a robust distribution network for marketing its products across India and in international markets like the UAE, Canada, and the UK.
