In 1985, a company named Sotran was founded in Londrina, Brazil, with a focus on transportation services. For years, it operated in the logistics sector, primarily serving agribusiness clients like food industries and cooperatives. A major shift began in 2004 when the company moved to an asset-light model, divesting its own fleet of trucks to focus on coordinating freight. The big transformation, however, came in 2016. The private equity firm Arlon Group invested in Sotran, steering the company toward a technology-driven future. This set the stage for the 2018 launch of TMOV, a digital platform and application designed to connect truckers directly with cargo, effectively turning the established logistics company into a logtech firm. This strategic pivot aimed to bring more efficiency and technology to all players in the logistics chain, from shippers to the individual truck drivers. Today, the company that started as Sotran is now known as Tmov. It operates as one of the largest digital freight marketplaces for agribusiness in Brazil, a significant evolution from its origins as a traditional transport company.
