Solstice Renewables

Solstice Renewables was a prominent UK-based solar farm developer that operated from 2013 to 2016. During its operational period, the company developed 13 solar farms across the UK, totaling 118 Megawatts (MW) of capacity. This capacity is sufficient to generate renewable electricity for approximately 35,000 typical homes. Solstice Renewables was recognized for its innovative approach to ecological and biodiversity management, which included sowing native wildflowers and grasses around and under solar panels. These efforts resulted in significant ecological benefits, such as a 25-fold increase in butterfly populations and a rise in the number of birds of conservation concern. The company also became known for its educational support programs linked to its solar farms, setting a standard that is now widely adopted in the UK solar industry. Although Solstice Renewables ceased operations in 2016 due to regulatory changes, its management team went on to establish Eden Renewables in 2017, an international solar and storage developer that shares a similar ethos.
