Socium is a human resources technology company that provides a comprehensive, all-in-one platform for businesses in Francophone Africa. Founded in 2021 by École Polytechnique alumni Samba Lo (CEO) and Serigne Seye (COO), the startup aims to modernize HR processes in the region. Lo, after a career in data science and investment banking, was inspired to contribute to Africa's development, leading to the creation of Socium.

Initially launched as a recruitment website, the company evolved after identifying broader client needs for integrated HR solutions. The platform now offers a suite of tools for recruitment, payroll, performance management, workflow automation, and document management. It uses artificial intelligence to automate tasks like CV scoring and payroll calculations, allowing HR managers to focus on strategic employee engagement. The business model targets the significant number of mid-sized companies in Francophone Africa that currently rely on manual HR processes. By providing a tailored, automated solution, Socium helps clients reduce operational risks and improve efficiency.

The company has a client base of over 100 active businesses across 15 countries and 10 different industries. Socium has successfully raised significant capital to fuel its growth, including a $1.1 million round in August 2022 and a subsequent $5 million seed round in late 2024. This funding, led by investors like Breega, Partech, and Orange Ventures, is intended to enhance the platform with more advanced AI functionalities and accelerate expansion across strategic African markets.
