Slide is a Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BCDR) company that develops solutions exclusively for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The company was founded by Austin McChord, the founder and former CEO of Datto, and Michael Fass, Datto's former General Counsel & Chief People Officer. They stated they felt they had "unfinished business" after Datto's sale and wanted to bring innovation back to the MSP channel. The firm officially launched in February 2025.
McChord started his first company, Datto, in 2007 from his father's basement while still in college, growing it into a leading MSP solutions provider that was acquired for approximately $1.5 billion in 2017. Fass was an executive leader at Datto for nine years, seeing it grow from a 100-employee startup to a publicly-traded enterprise. Both founders are also involved with Outsiders Fund, an early-stage venture capital firm that has backed Slide.
Slide's business model is 100% channel-focused, meaning it sells exclusively through MSPs. The company provides a modern BCDR platform built from scratch, free from the constraints of legacy code. Its product portfolio is designed around security, performance, and simplicity, featuring a cloud-first architecture, all-flash storage, and native data encryption at rest and in transit at no extra cost. The platform's offerings include block-level backups, backup verification, instant virtualization, and an "Active Reclaim" feature that optimizes storage by reclaiming unused space. Slide offers physical appliances, including the Z1, R1, and B1 models, with capacities ranging from 1TB to 150TB.
The company is headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut. In June 2025, Slide announced it had raised $25 million in a Series A funding round led by Base10 Partners, with participation from Outsiders Fund and Top Down Ventures. This funding is intended to scale platform development and support its expansion into Canada, where it has established a new data center to meet data residency requirements.
