SkillHub, now operating as Unico Skill, functions as an educational benefits platform for the corporate market in Brazil. Originally founded in 2020 by João Bizzarri and André Felix, the startup was created to connect companies and their employees with educational opportunities, addressing talent development and retention. In December 2021, the company was acquired by Unico, a Brazilian IDtech unicorn, marking Unico's strategic entry into the education sector. Following the acquisition, SkillHub was rebranded to Unico Skill, integrating into Unico's broader ecosystem of digital identity solutions. The business is currently led by CEO Joca Oliveira.
Unico Skill operates on a B2B subscription-based model, offering corporate clients unlimited access to a vast educational catalog for a fixed monthly fee per employee. This model is designed as a three-sided marketplace, benefiting the partner educational institutions by reducing their student acquisition costs, the client companies by providing a scalable and budget-friendly development tool, and the employees by offering a wide range of learning opportunities. The platform provides corporate clients with management tools and customized reports on employee engagement and development. Client companies include major brands such as Nestlé, Vivo, AstraZeneca, Banco BMG, and Pague Menos.
The service grants employees access to over 26,000 courses from more than 90 partner institutions, including well-regarded names like Ibmec, FGV, Saint Paul, and Coursera. The course offerings are extensive, covering undergraduate degrees, MBAs, postgraduate studies, certifications, and language courses. A key feature is the flexibility for employees to choose their own learning paths, enrolling in multiple courses simultaneously and switching as needed, which contrasts with traditional, standardized corporate training programs. For a monthly fee starting at R$90 per employee, companies can provide a comprehensive educational benefit that also extends to employees' dependents, positioning it as a strategic tool for talent management and addressing skill gaps.
