Silego Technology was a fabless semiconductor company founded in 2001 by Ilbok Lee and Chen Wang. The company pioneered Configurable Mixed-signal ICs (CMICs), which integrate analog, digital logic, power, and timing functions into a single, small, low-cost chip. Silego's flagship product line, GreenPAK (GPAK), allowed hardware engineers to create custom circuits in minutes using a GUI-based software, eliminating the need for programming languages. This approach enabled designers to reduce component count, board space, and power consumption, while also accelerating time-to-market.
Silego's CMICs served a broad range of applications, including consumer electronics, wearables, PCs, servers, and industrial equipment. The company's business model focused on providing a scalable platform that included configurable ICs, proprietary design software, and development kits. This allowed for rapid prototyping and cost-effective manufacturing for high-volume OEMs. By 2016, the company had shipped over 2 billion CMICs, and by August 2017, this number grew to 3 billion. On November 1, 2017, Silego Technology was acquired by Dialog Semiconductor for $276 million, with an additional potential $30.4 million based on revenue targets. The acquisition was intended to strengthen Dialog's position in the IoT, computing, and automotive markets. Subsequently, Dialog Semiconductor, along with the Silego portfolio, was acquired by Renesas Electronics in 2021.
