Founded in 1955 as South India Corporation Agencies Limited, Sical Logistics began its journey as a key player in India's logistics sector. The company initially focused on traditional services like stevedoring, trucking, and customs handling, establishing a strong foundation in the industry. Over the decades, it grew by providing integrated logistics for bulk and containerized cargo, handling millions of tons annually. A significant chapter in Sical's story opened in 2011 when it was acquired by the Coffee Day group. This move brought the logistics firm under the umbrella of a diverse conglomerate, marking a major transition from its origins with one of Chennai's oldest business families, the M.A. Chidambaram Group. The acquisition was part of Coffee Day's expansion into the logistics business, aiming to leverage Sical's extensive infrastructure. Following this, Sical continued to invest in mechanized port terminals, container freight stations, and expanded its service offerings. More recently, the company experienced another shift in ownership. In 2023, the Delhi-based Pristine Malwa Logistics Park Pvt Ltd took over Sical Logistics. This latest development opens a new phase for the long-standing company as it continues its focus on core activities like mining and dredging operations alongside its traditional logistics services.
